Singapore’s Circle Line Finally Closes Its Loop With Three New Stations

← Home

The new Singapore Circle Line stations finally closed the loop on July 12, 2026, when the last three stations — Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward Road — opened for full revenue service, following a free public preview on July 4. The completed line now runs 39 kilometers across 33 stations, with 12 interchange connections to every other MRT line in the network.

The practical change is a direct connection between the western side of the island and the CBD/Marina Bay area that never existed before: journeys from Pasir Panjang or Kent Ridge that used to require a transfer now run straight through, cutting some trips by around 10 minutes. According to the Land Transport Authority, Keppel Station serves the Greater Southern Waterfront redevelopment area and sits near PSA International’s port operations. Cantonment Station sits beneath the historic Tanjong Pagar Railway Station and serves the surrounding Spottiswoode Park and Everton Road residential pockets. Prince Edward Road Station lands in the Shenton Way office district, within walking distance of the Hock Teck See Temple and Masjid Haji Muhammad Salleh.

For visitors, the most useful part of the closed loop is what it does to cross-island planning: HarbourFront, the gateway station for Sentosa, and Orchard, sitting on this site’s Orchard Road shopping strip, are both already on the Circle Line — the new stretch mainly helps travelers based near the western universities or one-north tech corridor reach either without detouring through a second interchange. It’s a minor routing win rather than a new line to plan a trip around, but worth knowing if a hotel search turns up something near one of the three new stations at a lower rate than the usual Orchard or Marina Bay clusters.
