Satay by the Bay Closes From October 1: What Visitors Need to Know

← Home

Satay by the Bay, the open-air food court at Gardens by the Bay, closes for good on October 1, 2026, with its last day of service on September 30. The 1,000-seat venue has operated since 2013, but its site is being cleared to make way for Wetlands by the Bay, a new attraction roughly seven football fields in size.

Why It’s Closing

The current Satay by the Bay site, along with an adjacent car park and nursery, is being absorbed into Wetlands by the Bay, which will integrate the existing Kingfisher Wetlands with a much larger expanded area. A new two-storey dining block is planned to replace the food court, but it isn’t slated to open until 2028, alongside the first stage of the wetlands attraction.

What This Means If You’re Visiting Gardens by the Bay

If Satay by the Bay was on your list for a casual dinner near the Marina Bay waterfront, you’ll need an alternative from October 1 onward. Gardens by the Bay itself remains fully open, including the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and Supertree Grove — only the food court closes. For a hawker-style meal nearby, our Best Hawker Centres in Singapore guide covers other options within a short ride of the gardens, and Lau Pa Sat and Maxwell Food Centre are both reasonably close alternatives if you still want an open-air food court experience after your visit.

What Happens Next

There’s no dining venue planned on the Satay by the Bay site until the new two-storey block opens alongside the first stage of Wetlands by the Bay at the end of 2028. Until then, expect the site to be fenced off for construction, so don’t plan a visit around it.
