Singapore Haze Worsens: PSI Unhealthy Across All Five Regions

← Home

Singapore’s haze has worsened since the mid-September episode. National Environment Agency (NEA) data as of 6pm on October 5, 2026 showed the PSI reading unhealthy in all five regions: west and central hit 120 and 122, east rose to 101 by evening, and north/south sat at 94-95. NEA’s daily haze updates confirm the episode has continued through October 7.

What’s Different This Time

Unlike the September 18 episode — the first “unhealthy” islandwide reading since 2019 — this is a fresh escalation with higher numbers across more regions simultaneously. Dry conditions are forecast to persist, and prevailing winds from the south-east and south-west mean the haze risk is expected to continue into the coming days rather than clear quickly.

What Visitors Should Do

Check NEA’s PSI readings before planning outdoor activity, especially anything strenuous or extended time outdoors — the agency’s guidance is to reduce prolonged outdoor exertion once PSI crosses into the unhealthy range. If you’re sensitive to air quality or traveling with young children or older relatives, build in flexibility for indoor alternatives until conditions improve.
